Art Law working session Paris November 1st, 2007

From October 31 to November 4, 2007, in Paris, UIA, the International Association of Lawyers, will celebrate its 80 years of activity with a World International Congress that, as usual, will be participated by lawyers and fine jurists from all over the world.
In 2005, considering the international significance of the art market, and its juridical and economic implications, UIA created the Art Law Working Group, whose President is Andrea Pizzi, Attorney at Law in Italy.
In the framework of the UIA Congress, the Art Law Working Group will discuss the theme "Stolen Art: how extensive is the problem?", facing topics that have recently filled the pages of the newspapers and the court rooms of the whole world. Among the others, the petitions for restitution of the art masterpieces stolen by the Nazists in Europe before and during the World War II, the agreements between the Italian Government and the Getty Museum in order to obtain the restitution of archaeological pieces, the leading Cases on Art Law, the international protection system and the international Treaties.
Lawyers from many different countries (United States, Italy, Belgium, Switzerland and so on) will discuss about Art Law on November 1, in Paris. The Congress will take place at the Hotel Méridien Montparnasse.
